Mission:
In collaboration with our partnering social organizations, we will attempt to construct and carry out a proposal for comprehensive peace that recognizes regional instruments, experiences, and knowledges. Achieving peace is an essential condition for human development in Colombia.
In this regard, we carry out our work through analyzing the current situation in Colombia in order to reveal paths for comprehensive and sustainable development, and through directly contributing to the creation and development of grass-roots organizations that participate in constructing a true democracy in Colombia.
In order to contribute to peace, our work includes the following:
- Strengthening the social fabric through supporting social actors in their productive, organizing, education and governance processes, by constructing their identity based on a system for human and social rights;
- Producing complex social analysis through thematic research, systemization of experiences, and reflection in regards to these experiences. Additionally, our programs are sustained by specific diagnostic study and contextual analysis. In this regard, the evaluation of the processes can be returned to the partnering social organizations and presented to a wider public in order for it to be discussed, modified and reproduced;
- Having impact in the public sphere through a communications strategy for peace by way of being present in diverse settings, and developing communication, dialogue, and public policy.

Our Principal Institutional Goal:
By 2012, our team will be highly recognized in bringing about alternatives for development and peace.
In the year 2012, we aim to carry out research and create proposals for peace and comprehensive human development. Our challenge is to perfect and disseminate this goal. In order to do this, we have developed into a highly specialized team that demonstrates that a person’s dignity is paramount. This team also blends a sense of organization with that of solidarity in order to bring about creative and innovative human co-existence.
In terms of development and peace, the efficient coordination of our projects, along with our solidarity, have become a reference point for the persons, organizations, and institutions that partner with our work.
Our proposals are meant to demonstrate that societal justice is brought about through inclusive processes that construct a system for rights, capabilities and opportunities. Our action is also known for its level of impact, and has become solid reference point for the social and economic actors that have actively invested in our programs.
Who we work with:
CINEP works with two types of organizations: sister and strategic.
Sister organizations are politically, economically and culturally excluded social groups capable of creating peace and development processes that incorporate inclusion, social justice, and extending democracy. Additionally, these unarmed and non-violent processes strive for a political and negotiated solution to conflicts.
Strategic organizations are groups that opt for a peaceful, agreed-upon solution to conflicts, and for the defense of life in all of its expressions. These organizations also have a mission and objectives similar to that of ours, and work to bring about our principal, institutional goal. Additionally, it is hoped that these groups can have an impact on development and peace, and provide support in terms of knowledge, technical skills, and financing.
